The participants of the Launching Ceremony
Speaking at the Launching Ceremony, Mr. Dinh Khac Dinh - Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, shared that the Campaign of Clean Up the World is an opportunity for the entire community to join hands in taking action for the environment and fulfilling their responsibilities through meaningful actions. In recent years, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, has organized numerous practical activities. These activities have had a high level of dissemination, such as environmental clean-up campaigns, waste collection, tree planting, beach cleaning, and the promotion of waste collection, sorting, and treatment models. They have also raised awareness of environmental protection laws and regulations in people's daily lives.
These activities and movements have contributed to raising the awareness of officials, members, farmers, and people throughout the country about the Party's guidelines, the policies and laws of the State on environmental protection, climate change response, and disaster prevention and mitigation. They have also fostered a sense of responsibility and environmentally friendly behavior, positively contributing to the construction of new rural areas and sustainable development of the country.

Mr. Dinh Khac Dinh, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, spoke at the ceremony
On behalf of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, Vice Chairman Dinh Khac Dinh called on the ministries, departments, central organizations, provincial/municipal People's Committees, agencies, organizations, and individuals to continue launching and participating in environmental protection movements within their communities. In particular, coastal provinces, cities, and local agencies and units should strengthen activities to clean up beaches and coastal areas, with a focus on collecting and recovering plastic products, packaging, and non-biodegradable plastic bags, and transporting them to designated recycling and treatment facilities.
The campaign also emphasizes the importance of communication, dissemination, and education to help people enhance their awareness and responsibility in protecting, preserving, and ensuring environmental hygiene, waste sorting at the source, waste reduction, and promoting reuse and recycling. One simple action that everyone can take is to refuse single-use plastic products and non-biodegradable plastic bags.
It is essential to integrate environmental education content into training programs. "We need to build an environmental ethic, culture, and ecological civilization in our interaction with nature, overcome and eliminate the mindset of pursuing short-term economic interests at the expense of environmental protection," emphasized Mr. Dinh.

Over 700 residents participated in the Launching Ceremony for the Campaign of Clean Up the World 2023
Highlighting the importance of environmental protection in the local socio-economic development, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Bac Ninh province, shared that all industrial zones operating in the province have implemented waste collection and treatment. The rate of household waste collection and treatment in Bac Ninh has reached 98%, and it is expected to reach 100% by the end of 2024. The province is also gradually addressing environmental pollution hotspots such as Phong Khe (Bac Ninh city), Phu Lam industrial cluster (Tien Du district), and Van Mon commune (Yen Phong district), with positive results. The campaigns to clean up fields, roads, and villages, as well as the participation of the entire population in environmental protection and the reduction of plastic waste, have received enthusiastic responses from the residents.
In response to the Clean Up the World Campaign in 2023, Bac Ninh province continues to promote and encourage people to build a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable lifestyle with the environment. The objective is to implement the Environmental Protection Law of 2020 in practical life, maintain the goal of economic development in an environmentally friendly direction, and contribute to improving the lives of the people.

The Farmers' Association in Nhan Thang commune, Gia Binh district, Bac Ninh province, will establish a model for collecting used pesticide packaging and building a plastic-free community.
On this occasion, the Central Farmers' Association of Vietnam has aided the construction of the model "Collecting pesticide packaging and enhancing plastic waste management" for the Farmers' Association in Nhan Thang commune, Gia Binh district, Bac Ninh province. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Truong, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Nhan Thang commune, the association has been implementing the collection and treatment of pesticide packaging waste in the fields and field sanitation since 2018 with the call on people to follow suit. After initial difficulties, people have formed the habit of bringing used pesticide packaging to the designated trash bins in the fields, reducing indiscriminate littering.
The delegates participated in planting trees to create landscapes at the historic site of King Duong Vuong Mausoleum.
The association welcomes the support of the Central Association in building this activity into a model for replication. In addition, the association also proposes that relevant authorities and higher-level Farmers' Associations support those directly involved in the collection of hazardous waste. At the same time, the treatment process should avoid mixing with ordinary waste, which can release harmful gases - Mr. Thang said. Immediately after the launching ceremony, the delegates and residents planted trees together to create landscapes at the historic site of King Duong Vuong Mausoleum in Dai Dong commune, Thuan Thanh town, and participated in cleaning and sanitation activities in response to the Clean Up the World Campaign 2023./.
