News-Events 16/09/2023
At the workshop, participants listened to the sharing of activities at the Nature Reserve of Tra Su Melaleuca Forest and the challenges in conservation work. They also discussed the Ramsar Convention and the necessary directions to meet the Ramsar criteria for the Nature Reserve of Tra Su Melaleuca Forest.
Furthermore, an overview of the project "Implementing nature-based solutions to restore flooded areas and natural processes in the Mekong Delta (Mekong NbS)" was presented, along with models of water resource management in flooded areas and livelihood models based on floods (NbS) in the upstream provinces of the Mekong River.
The project aims to enhance resilience and recovery from the impacts of climate change, restore the biodiversity of flooded areas, and develop and expand nature-based livelihood models in the headwaters of the Mekong Delta. The specific objective is to restore the wetland habitats and natural cycles of the delta, such as natural flow and sediment accumulation in buffer zones, through a series of activities within and around the Tra Su Melaleuca Forest. Additionally, it aims to build and implement nature-based livelihood solutions (such as "climate-smart" farming) with potential for large-scale investment throughout the headwaters of the Mekong Delta, including Dong Thap Muoi and the Long Xuyen Quadrangle./.
